Business executives rank creativity as one of the key factors in the success of both their individual employees and their entire enterprises. How then to develop that creative workforce?
Local educators, artists, cultural administrators, business leaders and NYS legislative advocates for the arts, including Senators Jose Serrano and David Valesky, will gather on October 27 to learn more about the essential role of creativity in education and the workplace as part of a one-day conference, "Creativity and Other Boundless Resources for Recession-Era Education" at the Syracuse University Sheraton.
The breakfast program, "ArtWorks for the 21st Century," features a presentation about this summer's ArtWorks program, a partnership among the Near Westside Initiative, CNY Works and Partners for Arts Education that allowed a group of local teens to investigate creative careers in their community. It established a foundation of resources for local businesses and cultural organizations to see economic development through the eyes of the next generation, and is serving as a model for more extensive programming in career preparation during the school year.
Another highlight of the morning program is a keynote address by John Cimino, president and CEO of Creative Leaps International and The Learning Arts. As a champion of the arts in education, business and professional life, Cimino has brought his "Concerts of Ideas" and other innovative programs into projects of the White House, the Center for Creative Leadership and the leadership training programs of dozens of Fortune 500 companies including GE, IBM, Pfizer and McDonnell Douglas as well as to numerous universities, business schools and institutes for professional development.
The conference is a collaboration among local non-profit Partners for Arts Education (PAE), the NYS Alliance for Arts Education (NYSAAE), and Empire State Partnerships. More information is available at PAE's website.
Tickets for the business breakfast are available at a cost of $20 per person online, or by calling Kristin at 315 234 9911.
